MISSION
The SPT is a newly established company, but its history started in1978 when a group of engineers and technicians, from the railway and the industrial automation sectors, joined under the name "Selenia" . developing important projects for SIP (the national telephone company) ENEL. (national energy company) and F.S. (Italian railways company) In 1983, start its collaboration with an large Sicilian company call IMPA S.p.A. interested in the development of new projects and the acquisition of important contracts in the railway and in the energy sectors. In 1987, the IMPA SpA started the design of a locomotive electric Diesel with "double-engine"with a "mixed" passenger and goods "function. On that occasion, our Team was asked to follow the construction and to organize the assistance sector, in collaboration with the Sacma of Milan and the French company Jeumont Schneider (supplier of the traction system). During the tests on the line the locomotive does not pass the traction tests. Our team intervenes and after a brief study and some modifications to the traction system supplied by Jeumont, the locomotive passes the required tensile tests and obtains approval from the Ministry of Transport . From that moment on, IMPA S.p.A absorbed the Team and entrusted it with the design and management of rolling stock test room. In 1989, IMPA SpA changes its reason to ITIN S.p.A. by combining the companies Sacma S.p.A and Tecnam S.p.A and consolidates its presence in the energy and railway sector, until 1997, the date of its final closure During this period, in addition to the railway sector , the Team is also involved in the "energy" sector, and follows the work for the commissioning of the electric filters of the 3rd and 4th group of the "thermal" plant in Brindisi Sud, the system of command and control of the Satriano hydroelectric power plants, control of the automatic gates of the Pont Ventù electric plant in France and automated warehouses for the Italian Post Office. In the Railway sector, in addition to the design and production and DE122 locomotives for the FSEs of Bari and for the ACTs of Reggo Emilia, the company produces the E 652 locomotives and Begins the prototyping of the E 402B on behalf of Ansaldo and many other railway vehicles. Shortly before closing, the company participates in and wins the tender for the supply of vehicles for the Catania metro, an innovative project called "Elefantino" created with the participation of our Team. In that same year the ITIN S.p.A. despite a substantial portfolio of orders, closed its doors and the supply of the cars for the Catania metro was acquired by Firema S.p.A. In 1996, in the forecasts of the closure of ITIN S.p.A and of the profound variations that the sector would have suffered following the new rules imposed by the nascent "European Community", the staff is consolidated again with the name, DPA Elettronica and focusing on the creative potential of its technical office, increases its know-how in the field of automation and traction control on railway vehicles. In 1997, after the closure of the Italimprese Industries SpA group, DPA acquires the "Railway and Logistics" business unit from ITIN SpA and was immediately qualified as a direct supplier to the FSE (South Eastern Railway), based in the city of Bari , ACT (a railway company operating in the city of Reggio Emilia (and Comau SpA (Fiat group). From 1998 to 2009, the Team completes the works left pending by ITIN S.p.A. and works in various railway projects for FSE, for ACT for Firema transports and for the FS S.p.A. It also designs and produces 5 new twin-engine locomotives and develops and patents new solutions in the railway traction sector. In 2009, the majority shareholder of DPA wish to move its headquarters outside Sicily. Consequently, the technical staff and Eng. Giancarlo Grasso separated and form an independent design company, which after several months of negotiations joined with the FC (Furnò construction) company operating in the civil public
